We will have our Halloween Party tomorrow afternoon from 1:15-2:20. We will start off the party with a parade around the school. After the parade, we will return to our class for games, snacks and a craft. Please DO NOT send your child in a costume in the morning. Please put the costume IN YOUR CHILD"S BACKPACK and we will change into them after lunch. If you would like to send in treats for the class, that is fine. Please make sure all treats are individually packed and that you have enough for each of our 29 students.
Matt Wilhelm visited our school!!!!
We had the privilege of Matt Wilhelm visiting our school. Matt is a professional BMX bike trickster and speaks to students about anti-bullying and anti-drugs. We had so much fun watching him do tricks and listening to his positive message of working hard, never giving up and never letting anyone or anything get in the way of your dreams. Thank you PTO for sponsoring this assembly. We loved it a lot!!!

Student Led Parent/Teacher Conferences
I have decided to change things up a bit for our Parent/Teacher conferences this year. I want to thank everyone who signed up for a conference time during our Open House and I am sorry that I am changing things around. Instead of meeting with only the parents for 15 minutes I have decided to have the kids be a big part of the conference process.
Families are asked to sign up for a 25 minute time slot. During that time, your child and you will be in the classroom rotating through 5 stations. The stations will be: Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Meet with Mrs. Blake. Each station will last 5 minutes. During your time at the station, your child will teach you about his/her skills and progress for the year so far. There will be directions and an activity for your child to lead you though. This puts the power of learning in the hands of the students. They are able to show their accomplishments and take pride in their work. Students will have a better understanding of their learning and why we do what we do each day. It will also address some of our Speaking and Listening Common Core standards.
I ask that you please show up on time as each session is a limited amount of time with a lot to get though. Below is a link to the Sign Up Genius where you can sign up for a Student Led conference time slot. If you are unable to make it on Thursday, October 22nd, please email me and we will set up another time.
Thank you for your help and support with our new conference set up and I hope you enjoy it. The students are VERY excited to teach you. :)
Sincerely,
Mrs. Blake
